Welcome to the pulsating heart of Kuala Lumpur, where culinary magic unfolds at SekMeChoy Restaurant. Nestled at 144 & 146 Main St, Salak South, this hidden gem captivates food lovers with its authentic flavors and inviting atmosphere. Whether you're a local or a visitor, SekMeChoy promises a memorable dining experience that showcases the cultural richness of Malaysian cuisine.
At the forefront of its culinary offerings is the signature dish, Pepper Bak Kut Teh 招牌胡椒肉骨茶. This aromatic pepper-infused herbal soup is not just a meal; it's an experience that warms your soul with every slurp. The balance of flavors is so exquisite that it delivers a peppery punch that lingers beautifully on the palate. The bubbling hot soup, rich in spices and tender meat, is a must-try that leaves you craving more.
Equally impressive is the Hakka Salted Baked Chicken 客家盐焗鸡, a dish that exhibits the artistry of traditional cooking. Slow-baked to perfection in an iron pot with coarse salt, this chicken is succulent and infused with deep flavors. The unique cooking method allows the meat to steam in its juices, creating a tender texture that is nothing short of heavenly.

Vince Tan reminisces about his long journey with SekMeChoy, asserting that their pepper soup never disappoints. During peak hours, around 6 PM to 7:30 PM, the hustle and bustle of the restaurant adds to its charm, ensuring that food is served promptly, satisfying the cravings of eager diners.
What makes SekMeChoy truly special is the variety it offers. From salted egg baby French beans to yellow wine chicken served with perfectly fried egg, every dish is crafted with care. Steven Teo highlights the consistency and comforting nature of the food, making it a consistent go-to for locals. With dishes designed for sharing and enjoying together, SekMeChoy encourages communal dining that enhances the overall experience.

“ Really delicious food! The owners are passionate about their food and also very friendly and funny. The steam salted chicken is incredibly good . Looking fwd to my next trip here. ”
“ Been with them for more than 15 years before they reallocate to the new shop just opposite of the road . Never goes wrong if you’re planning some hot nice pepper soup . ”
“ Extremely busy place during dinner time around 6pm-7.30pm Food is served fast and taste good. Salted egg baby French bean tastes good. Yellow wine chicken with added fried egg have the right taste. Not overly sweet for the wine. Chicken portions are soft to bite. Seniors can bite to eat, wine taste not overwhelming. Will go try other dishes during our next visit. ”

“ The food has been consistent over the years. The new location is cosy and bright. The dishes we ordered were just nice for 11 pax. The salted chicken is soft and succulent. Using hands to tear it apart is the norm. The peppery bak kut teh is their signature since as far as I can recall. RM19 per pax. The rest of the other dishes such as salted egg french bean, claypot kangkung, sweet sour pork and minced meat taufu are all delicious. The kai choy rice is flavourful. ”
“ I came here today for the food in this restaurant is delicious, the soup base of the vegetarian Bak Kut Teh is very flavorful and rich, and the staff is very friendly. When three of us came in with my parents, they made a table for four seaters for us, and before we were even seated, they asked us if we wanted to switch to a bigger table .When we finished our meal and wanted to pay, the cashier, I believe she was owner, was very friendly and polite. He said thank you to us and even bowed a little. She was very polite. We will definitely come back. ”
